Mechanism of Action
A selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist.
While ondansetron's mechanism of action has not been fully characterized, it is
not a dopamine-receptor antagonist.
Activation of vagal afferents may also cause a central release of serotonin
through the 5-HT3 receptors and initiate the vomiting reflex.
